What is the goal of small groups at Crossroads?

Spiritual growth comes when people are connected with God and with each other. God's plan for His disciples is not a lifestyle of isolation, but a lifestyle of community. Small groups are the best environment for spiritual growth. We have a five-fold purpose for groups.

  1. Connect relationally with God, through his Son, Jesus Christ, and with a family of believers.
  2. Grow in the knowledge of the Bible and a lifestyle of obedience to the teachings of the Bible.
  3. Serve in the way you were made. Discover how you are "shaped" for ministry. God made you unique, and he has a unique plan for your life. Groups help you to discover that plan.
  4. Reach your "unchurched" or "seeker" friends, and help change lives in our community and around the world.
  5. Worship God with your whole life.

Small groups are a key ingredient to reaching each of these goals.

How many people are in a group?

Groups come in all sizes, we believe the optimum number of people to have in a small group is 8-10. This allows for great interactive communication while still giving people a chance to talk and share.

May I try several groups?

Yes. If one group doesn't "fit" try another. New groups are starting regularly.

I don't know much about the Bible, is there a group for me?

Absolutely! We have groups for spiritual seekers, new believers and maturing Christians.

Can I bring my "seeker" friends to my group?

Please do! If you or your friends have questions about God, the Bible or about spiritual matters in general, groups are a great place to search for answers.

What happens in a group meeting?

Every group is a little different, but most group meetings consist of:

  • Fellowship time (15-30 minutes)
  • Bible study (30-45 minutes)
  • Prayer & Worship (15-30 minutes)
How long do group meetings last?

On average groups meet for 1 to 2 hours.

Is childcare available?

Many groups provide childcare in the home, but each group handles it differently. Please check with the leader of the group for specifics.

How do I find a group to join?

Just check out the Group Finder link on our Small Groups homepage to browse our existing groups or create your own Group Finder Profile to search by criteria that is most important to you.

What do groups study?

That's really up to the group. The Bible is the "text book," but a wide variety of topics, and study guides are available to address pretty much every interest and spiritual need.

I am interested in hosting a group in my home. What are the requirements/qualifications?
